Pub night next week

We had planned to meet in the Running Hare next Tuesday (March 1st) after training. You are probably aware that the Hare is currently closed following fire damage.
We will therefore meet in The Griffin in Mynydd Isa.

Welsh Cross Country Championships

The men came 3rd in the team competition, and top team from North Wales. Rob has the medals for those who had to leave before the presentation. I don't have the individual positions at present so will post when they are available.

Erika was 9th in the lady's competition (7th in the senior lady section) and I think Jane was 25th.

Tarren Hendre Fell Race - 12th February

Meirionnydd Running Club played fantastic hosts to amongst others, an auspicious gathering of of international fell and mountain runners.
Determined to give the big boys and girls a run for their entrance fee's, a small detachment of Buckleyites made the journey to a stunning part of the Principality to sample the ascents. descents, flats and bogs of this testing 10k course.

Despite Morris's elbows Taggart had a bit of early luck breaking away from the field going on to work off the front of Morris and Higgins for the duration of the whole race.

All competitors were treated to soup and bread at the 'local' after their exploits.
A brilliant day in fantastic company.

Lloyd Taggart - 47.34
Simon Edwards - 58.38
John Morris - 1:09.51
Chris Higgins - 1:10.11
Fen Higgins - 1:20.45
Rob Mackey - 1:32.47

West Cheshire Border League 13th Feb 2011

Sprains, pains but still some gains.
Despite some long standing injuries amongst quicker colleague runners, Buckleyites turned out in numbers to give neighbouring clubs a 'run for their subs'. Dave 'Boothers' Boothroyd really pushing himself over the distance which has been an elusive target through his injury.

Fresh from the slopes of Tarren Hendre fell race the day before, John Morris hurtled in to third v65 third position. It was a pleasure to see Jack Thomas return to the road after his back difficulties.

Erica, looking sharper than ever put in a characteristically stoic performance to see her 1st SL and 3rd lady overall. No mean feat in such company and off the back of injury.

Established and newer colleagues were in the reckoning, with some new names making their mark. Well done Andrew and Christian only a second between you!

Welsh Cross Country Championship

The Welsh CC Champs are being held at Northop on Saturday 19th February. This is a superb opportunity for North Wales runners to a) compete in a Welsh championship event and b) do very well in it (it is a long way from south Wales to Northop - much further than North wales to Cardiff!). In particular there are opportunities for team prizes.

It is equally important that it is well supported by local clubs, if we don't support it it will justify holding in the south more often.

Please support this event. But.......................

Registration can only be made through the club. We have to register runners with Welsh Athletics by Tuesday 8th. Please let Jane or Rob know if you fancy it. We will need your WA registratin number (the one opn your card) It is better to register now, even if you are not sure. You can't do it later.
