Some reminders

Subs. Please remember that subs are due. You need two cheques, £10 to Buckley Runners and £15 to Welsh athletics. Please pass the cheques to Paul, Les or Rob as soon as possible. Pub night at Running Hare. We will meet for a drink and food if you want after training on Tuesday 5th April. Running Hare is re-opening Thursday this week, especially for us. Last Border League Race. The last race is on Wednesday 27th April at Wrexham. A good turnout will ensure a good final placing in the league. We can still win it! If any of our new runners want to run we must provide Rup with details (Name and DOB) by no later than 7pm on Wednesday 20th. (a week before the race) Many thanks Rob

Matt and erika win at Deeside

Sunday 27th March, BL at Deeside. Another good turnout by Buckley Runners. 16 men and 4 ladies gave us a good score in all competitions. The vets were 3rd, the ladies were 3rd and the men were 2nd. Some excellent performances all round but a double success saw Erika as first lady home and Matt overall winner, his first ever Borders League win. Matt told me he was pleased to beat Ricky. He didn't say he beat him by nearly 20 seconds! Nice one Matt. Well done Erika. Posted by Rob

Border League Mold, Sunday 13th

Congratulations and a huge thank you to everybody involved in an excellent event.

Organising and competing in a Border league is a challenge for any club, especially a relatively small club like ours. But the members reponded brilliantly to appeals by Paul and Les for support.

On the day we had plenty of marshalls and timekeepers; we were able to put enough people out on the course to ensure the safe running and effective recording of the event. Huge thank you to everybody who helped; runners not involved in the BL, parents, spouses, children. It was great to see Shaun back, and to see Jo, one of our new lady runners, there to help out on the day. And we need to thank North Wales Police (especially Sgt Darren Jones from Mold) and Highways (Sam Tully) at FCC for their support. And to John Driscoll for refereeing.

There are some bits and pieces that we need to look at before the next one (should be in 2012/13 season). Need to make notes at the next pub night. (It will be on April 5th at The Running Hare - I am told it will reopen in time for Mothering Sunday and our Pub-night)

And congratulations to the men who won on the day. Splendid!!! See http://www.bordersleague.org.uk/ for the full results.

Pipe Dream Fell Race 5th March

I bet John Buchan never visited Dolgarrog, as there was certainly many, many more than his own 'Thirty Nine Steps' facing runners virtually from the off as they were required to climb a reported 1200 feet in the first mile tracing the line of the water feed pipe that used to service he now defunct aluminium works.
A number of Bucklyites did visit however and had a really enjoyable day 'at the races' in near perfect conditions and fantastic atmosphere. The tea and sandwiches in the community centre afterwards just rounded the event off brilliantly.
The scores on the doors then.
Simon Roberts 38.49 7th
Chris Higgins 44.47 38th
Peter Roberts 45.01 39th
John Morris 46.07 46th
Fenella Higgins 52.22 72nd
Paul Donaghue 52.57 74th
Sue Ridings 64.32 91st.
